Missouri State

Capping of an outstanding four-year career on the Missouri State swimming and diving team, senior Sydney Zupan was perfect at her final Missouri Valley Conference Championship. Zupan earned gold medals in every single one of her individual events – the 100 fly, 100 back and 200 back. If winning wasn’t enough, she broke the school and MVC conference record in the 100 fly with a first-place time of 53.65 seconds and then the 200 back in 1:55.00. Zupan helped the Bears to gold medals in the 200 medley relay, as well as the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays. Thanks to her efforts, she and the 200 and 400 relay squads recorded the fastest times in MVC history. Along with earning All-MVC first-team honors, she was named the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Year and was awarded the Elite 17 award – an award that is given to honor the highest achievement in academics and athletics by a student athlete in the MVC. Perfect in the classroom as well, the Wildwood, Mo., native carries a 4.0 GPA in Cell & Molecular Biology. The MSU captain leaves as one of the most decorated swimmers in program history.
