The Beach Bears No. 2 duo of Grace Cook and Chloe Tome went 4-0 this past weekend at The Battle on the Bay tournament in St. Petersburg, Fla. On Friday, the pair grabbed wins over Leann Potter and Aliyah Fredette-Huffman of St. Leo (21-11, 20-22, 16-14) and Martina Melicherova and Mariana Olivares-Cely of Eckerd College (21-19, 21-8). Cook and Tome then finished the weekend with a thrilling three-set win over Amani Dunston and Ella Reemes of the College of Charleston, 21-16, 17-21, and 15-8 and a sweep of Kiersten Anderson and Payton Brunick of Tampa (21-16, 21-17). They have now won a program-best 11 straight matches dating back April 3 of last season. Cook and Tome are 7-0 this season and are 19-3 in their career.
