AJ Lux

AJ Lux joined the Missouri State volleyball staff as assistant coach in the summer of 2020 for both the indoor and beach programs in the summer of 2020.

In three seasons, Lux has tutored MSU’s outside hitters to four first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference selections. Amelia Flynn and Brooklyn Cink each ranked in the top 21 nationally in total kills and points during the 2020-21 campaign, and Flynn repeated as an all-Valley first-teamer in the fall 2021 season. Missouri State also ranked among the national leaders in total aces (sixth), digs (10th), assists (22nd), blocks (24th) and kills (26th) in 2020-21 while averaging 1.61 aces per set, the program’s best figure since 1995.

In 2022, the Bears surpassed their ace average from two seasons prior and outside hitter Manuela Ibarguen earned first-team all-league honors.

Lux came to Springfield after one season as an assistant coach at Francis Marion University and a successful playing career at East Tennessee State.

While at ETSU, Lux was three-year captain and a first-team all-Southern Conference pick as a sophomore in 2016 for the Bucs’ regular season championship club, posting a .332 attack efficiency from the outside that ranked fourth in school history for a season at the time.

Lux helped East Tennessee to NCAA Tournaments her junior and senior years, including becoming the first SoCon team in history to earn an NCAA at-large bid in 2018. She was a Senior CLASS Award nominee and on the SoCon All-Academic team her senior year.

A native of Shelbyville, Ind., Lux has additional coaching experience with club programs and summer camps in Tennessee and South Carolina, and earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and criminology with a coaching minor from East Tennessee State in 2019.
