2017-18: Returned to the court to average 3.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game, appearing in all but one contest on the season...Pulled down 13 rebounds per 40 minutes, getting five or more in seven games...Season high of nine rebounds came in just 14 minutes against Loyola (Jan. 21)...Earned MVC Newcomer of the Week honors on Feb. 5 after averaging 14 points and 6.5 rebounds on 70 percent shooting at UNI and Drake...Shot 9-for-14 with 18 points and eight rebounds at Drake (Feb. 4)...Had nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks at Valpo (Feb. 18)...Shot 55 percent (33-for-60) from the field over the season’s final 14 games, and 45 percent for the full year.
2016-17: Redshirt season at Missouri State.
Background: Gartner is Hiawatha High’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder, reaching those levels prior to her senior season while crossing the 1,000-point barrier as a junior as well...Second-team all-state pick as a senior after averaging 21.7 points on 70 percent shooting, 13 rebounds and 7.0 blocks per game...Also a first-team all-conference pick that year...Averaged 21.4 points, 13.3 boards and 4.0 blocks as a junior, shooting 69 percent from the floor to earn all-state recognition...Won a state discus title as a junior with a throw of 151-6, finished fourth in the discus as a senior, and fourth in the shot put her junior year.
