A product of Lubbock Christian University, experienced instructor and coach Kristen Doty returned to Missouri State in the fall of 2019 to serve as the program's first director of softball operations.
She spent the past year as an assistant coach at Paris (Texas) Junior College after two seasons with the Bears as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2017 and 2018 campaigns.
Doty served as a coaching intern at Lubbock Christian for coach Daren Hays while at the Division II institution. While there, she assisted the coaching staff in all aspects of the practices and was responsible for working with the Lady Chaps outfielders. She was also a collegiate golfer, playing a year at Lubbock Christian and two years at Central Baptist.
The NFCA certified coach has coached a number of age-group teams, including a 16U travel squad in Lubbock, Texas that advanced to USSSA nationals, and an 8U team in Izard County, Ark.
Doty is also a personal softball instructor, providing private lessons for ages 6-18, and working with players on hitting, bunting and fielding fundamentals as well as advanced techniques.
The native of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., was a standout prep player at Izard County High School where she earned all-district, all-conference all-region and all-state honors for coach Matt Orf. She had the highest batting average on her prep club all four years and led her team to four district and conference titles. She also claimed all-state tournament laurels and competed for the elite Gold level of travel ball, earning MVP honors at a number of tournaments. She decided not to pursue a collegiate softball career after suffering an elbow injury in high school.
