2016: Knutson (kuh-NOOT-sin) totaled a career-best seven mound victories in his 16 starts as a junior, working a team-high 91.2 innings and fanning 88 hitters...Posted career-best totals for innings pitched, starts, wins and strikeouts...Picked up a 12-1 victory in the Bears’ season opener at Central Arkansas (Feb. 19), holding the opposition to one run on four hits while striking out seven in 6 2/3 innings...Blanked SIU Edwardsville (March 4) on three hits over 7.0 innings; fanned nine hitters while walking none in a 6-2 victory...Knocked off Memphis (March 12) with a season-high 8.0-inning stint in a 6-4 win...Struck out six Iowa (March 18) hitters and allowed just one run over 5.2 frames as part of a 4-1 win over the Hawkeyes...Fanned a career-best 10 hitters over 7.0 shutout innings of four-hit baseball vs. Central Michigan (March 31) in an eventual 2-0 win...Earned his fifth win of the season in MSU’s Valley opener at Bradley (April 8), holding the Braves to two runs on six hits while recording seven K’s over 6.1 innings...Dropped five consecutive MVC decisions, April 15-May 14; stopped the skid with a 17-5 win over Illinois State (May 20) in which he scattered six hits over 6.0 innings...Defeated host Indiana State in the opening round of the MVC Championship, holding the Sycamores to four runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings of a 12-4 victory...Capped his season with 4 2/3 strong innings against Bradley (May 28) on just two days rest; allowed just one run on four hits while fanning four to help the Bears pull out a 3-2 win that propelled them into the title game.
2015: Emerged as a dependable cog in the Bears’ weekend rotation as a sophomore, logging a 6-2 record and a 3.16 earned run average in 20 total appearances, including 14 starts…Worked 88.1 innings, good for the third-highest total on the club, and struck out 61 batters…Worked a total of six quality starts and completed at least 5.0 frames in 12 of his 14 starts…Went 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA in seven MVC starts…Picked up his first mound victory as a Bear March 29 with 8 2/3 innings of an 8-1 win at Jacksonville, allowing just one run on six hits…Earned MVC Pitcher of the Week and Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels the week of April 13 after tossing 8.0 shutout innings in a 2-0 win over Evansville (April 12) in which he fanned six while allowing just five hits…Completed 7.0 innings of the Bears’ May 15 win over Bradley, permitting just two runs on four hits…Earned a win over Wichita State (May 22) at the MVC Championship by working 5.2 strong innings in a 6-4 victory that propelled MSU into the title game…Turned in a clutch 7.0 inning effort in the NCAA Springfield Regional-clinching victory over Iowa (May 31); struck out five, walked one and scattered three hits in the 3-2 win…Limited Arkansas (June 7) to three runs on six hits over 6.0 innings at the NCAA Fayetteville Super Regional…Received the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award for the second consecutive year.
2014: Appeared in nine games for the Bears as a freshman, including one start...Struck out eight over 7.2 innings of work for the season...Turned in a pair of scoreless relief outings in MSU's season-opening series win over UCA, recording a strikeout in his Bears' debut on Feb. 15, a 6-4 victory...Made his first collegiate start March 26 vs. Arkansas State, allowing three runs on two hits over 0.2 innings in a 5-4 win...Notched a scoreless inning April 20 vs. Illinois State, then worked a season-best 2.2 innings in a 7-5 road decision over UT Martin (April 26)...Received MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award and Honor Roll recognition for his work in the classroom...Struck out 25 over 29.1 innings in 16 appearances for the Morehead City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League this past summer.
Background: Joined the Bears' mound corps after picking up all-state recognition as a senior at Lee's Summit High in 2013...Set a LSHS record with 18 strikeouts in a single game as a senior...Also posted school single-season records with a 0.56 ERA and 103 strikeouts as a senior to earn a
