2016: Young followed up an All-America sophomore campaign with another strong showing as a junior, saving 11 games to eclipse the Missouri State career record while sporting a 1.31 ERA ... Enters senior season second on MSU's career chart for ERA (1.74) and ninth in pitching appearances (63) ... Logged the fourth-best single-season save mark by a Missouri State pitcher, giving him the best two-year total (27) in program history ... Held the opposition to a .183 batting mark and fanned 41 hitters in just 34.1 innings spanning 24 appearances ... Allowed just five earned runs -- one fewer than in 2015 -- and combined on a pair of shutouts while posting a 1-3 mound mark ... Ranked third in the MVC and 35th nationally in saves, while his 23 games finished was second overall in the MVC ... Selected for All-MVC honors for the second-consecutive year ... Recorded an 0.96 ERA on the road and an 0.98 mark at home ... Picked up a five-out save at MVC champion Dallas Baptist (May 15), allowing just one baserunner in the 5-3 victory ... Struck out the side as part of a scoreless inning that completed the Bears' 8-2 road win over Arkansas (May 17) ... Saved MSU's regular-season finale against Illinois State (May 21) and a 3-2 victory over Bradley (May 28) in the MVC Championship, working the final five outs to help send the Bears to the title game.

2015: Fashioned one of the more dominant seasons in school history as a redshirt sophomore, leading the Valley and ranking third nationally in saves ... Was on the mound to seal all three MSU titles in 2015, saving the Bears’ MVC regular-season championship clincher, Valley Tournament title game and NCAA Springfield Regional deciding game ... Became Missouri State’s 10th first-team All-American and was one of five finalists for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award, given annually to the top relief pitcher in Division I baseball ... Led MSU with a Bears single-season record 16 saves to go along with a 1.30 earned run average ... Logged a perfect 7-0 mark overall and held the opposition to a .197 batting average over 41.2 innings spanning 30 outings ... Was nearly unhittable in Valley play, registering a conference-high six saves and five wins while allowing just one unearned run on eight hits over 19.1 innings en route to earning first-team All-MVC recognition ... Picked up first-team All-America recognition from the NCBWA, as well as third-team honors from both Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball at the conclusion of the season ... Allowed just one run in 12 home outings spanning 15.2 innings ... Started the season with three consecutive scoreless appearances, earning his first save as a Bear Feb. 27 vs. UCA ... Saved a 3-2 win over eventual NCAA-qualifier Wright State, then notched his first win of the year in the Bears’ 10-7 comeback victory at Kansas State (March 15) ... Named College Baseball 360’s Primetime Performer of the Week for the period March 30-April 5 ... Turned in 11 consecutive outings in which he earned either a win or a save, March 27-April 26; permitted just two earned runs on eight hits while striking out 23 batters over 16.2 innings during the streak ... Fanned a career-high six hitters in 3.0 innings to earn a win over Evansville (April 11), then saved a 2-0 shutout victory for Jordan Knutson the following day to complete a three-game MVC road sweep of the Aces ... Recorded saves in four straight appearances, April 12-21, and in seven consecutive outings from May 8-31 as part of MSU’s school-record 19-game win streak ... Secured the Bears’ fourth regular-season MVC crown with a scoreless ninth in a 2-0 win over Bradley (May 14) ... Also clinched the MVC Tournament title against the Braves, saving the Bears’ 5-2 win in Wichita on May 24 ... Saved both of the Bears’ NCAA Springfield Regional wins over Iowa, including a 1.2-inning effort in the deciding game (May 31).

2014: Made a strong impression in his initial season with the Bears, logging two wins and a 3.63 earned run average in nine appearances before a mid-April injury ended his year prematurely ... Earned the victory in his first collegiate appearance, a 6-4 Bears win at UCA (Feb. 15); struck out three and allowed two earned runs in 3.1 innings ... Tossed 9.2 consecutive scoreless innings of relief (Feb. 22-March 9) over five appearances, including 2 1/3 frames at Oral Roberts (Feb. 25) to help MSU claim a 3-2 win in 10 innings; also worked 4.0 shutout innings against Utah (March 9), matching a season high with three punchouts ... Also helped the Bears defeat New Mexico (Feb. 22) with two innings of one-hit ball, again striking out three batters in a 6-1 victory.

2013: Sat out the season as a redshirt ... Recorded one save in a pair of appearances over the summer for the Sedalia Bombers of the MINK League.

Background: Young was a two-time MHSBCA First-Team All-State selection for Kansas City's Staley High ... Recorded a 6-2 mark to go along with a 1.27 ERA as a senior ... Struck out 71 hitters in just 48 innings of work over 11 appearances to help Staley finish with a 22-7 overall record ... Excelled at the plate as well, batting .482 with a pair of home runs in 29 games ... Went 7-3 with a 1.04 ERA, 63 strikeouts and 12 walks in 47.1 innings on the mound in 2011 ... Rated as the No. 21 prospect in the class of 2012 by PBR, Young also handled the bat well, hitting .383 with seven doubles, four triples, two home runs and 27 RBIs in 81 at-bats.
