April 21, 2026 | Baseball
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Missouri State's Curry Sutherland was honored Tuesday by the College Baseball Foundation as its national John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week.
Â
The award is the first of Sutherland's career and second for a Bear this season, as Max Knight received the distinction on Feb. 17.
Â
Sutherland started all three games of the Bears' weekend series with Western Kentucky at third base, going 5-for-14 at the plate with two home runs, a double and five RBIs while slugging .857. He was error free in the field and collected his first career multi-homer game on Sunday.
Â
On the mound, the junior from Rogersville, Mo., threw three shutout innings on Saturday, yielding just one hit and striking out three for the victory, holding the Hilltoppers off the board in innings 10 through 12.
Â
The Bears (26-11, 14-4 Conference USA) open a four-game road trip tonight at 6 p.m. at No. 24 Arkansas.
