Acrobatics & Tumbling Sets New Standard in Home Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -Â Missouri State acrobatics and tumbling opened the 2026 season Sunday afternoon against No. 2 Oregon, posting a program-record team score of 242.880.
The Bears set a new program high in total points while delivering strong performances across all six events. Missouri State finished with scores of 35.300 in compulsory, 26.600 in acro, 27.900 in pyramid, 24.200 in toss, 51.700 in tumbling and 77.180 in the team event to cap the afternoon.
Missouri State's highest-scoring heat of the day came in the compulsory pyramid, where the Bears posted a 9.700 to highlight the opening event. The heat featured strong execution from Brookelyn McCaffrey, Harrison Fiene, Austyn Dykes, Ivana Cooper, Kylynn Hanson and Briana Milton, while Anna Warring, Destiny McDonald, Abbie Henderlight, Ainsley Cornstuble, Lola O'Donnell, Sofia Calero and Ava Rhodes also competed in the heat to help set the tone early in the meet.
The Bears continued to build momentum through the middle events, combining for a 54.500 across acro and pyramid. Missouri State recorded a 9.600 in the seven-element acro heat and delivered a consistent showing in pyramid to total 27.900.
Missouri State carried that momentum into the second half of the meet, scoring a 24.200 in toss before delivering its highest event total of the day in tumbling with a 51.700. The Bears closed the afternoon with a 77.180 in the team event, sealing the highest team score in program history in just the second season of competition.
Missouri State will be back in action at home on Friday, Feb. 13 at 6:00 p.m. to face No. 5 Augustana and Presbyterian during their first and only Tri Meet this season. Admission will be free all season at Hammons Student Center.
