Mendez Earns Second MVC Freshman of the Week Honor!

MVC Swimming & Diving Weekly Honors (Feb. 4)

ST. LOUIS – Freshman Zach Mendez received the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Freshman of the Week award on Wednesday, his second of the season. This comes after he showcased a brilliant performance helping the Bears secure the dual win over UIC. Mendez set a personal best and a conference-leading time of 15:18.98 in the 1650-yard freestyle. He now leads the MVC by almost three seconds, along with having the best time recorded since the start of the new year.

This tallies eight total conference awards for the Bears this season.

Both the men's and women's Missouri State swimming and diving teams will conclude the 2025-26 season in Evansville, Ind., when they compete in the three-day Missouri Valley Conference Championships, starting Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.
