The Lady Bear Necessities
  • Missouri State women's basketball closes out its regular season home slate with a visit from FIU on Thursday night (6:30 p.m., ESPN+). The Lady Bears are coming off back-to-back wins against Delaware and Sam Houston.
  • Thursday's meeting marks the fourth overall meeting between the Lady Bears and Panthers, with MoState owning a 3-0 series advantage. In this year's earlier meeting, MoState won 80-69 in Miami to open CUSA action. Maiesha Washington led the way in that one with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
  • The Lady Bears currently sit in 5th in the Conference USA standings, but will face two of the teams ahead of them in the final three games of the regular season including FIU which sits in second place.
  • Kaemyn Bekemeier leads MoState this season with 17.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg and 53 three-pointers. She became the 32nd Lady Bear in program history to reach the 1,000 point mark last Saturday. The 5-9 guard is 1 of just 8 players in NCAA DI with at least 490 points and 220 rebounds, and is one of just two players under 6'0" to do so. There are only three players standing 5'9" or shorter averaging more rebounds per game than Bekemeier. More information on Bekemeier on pg. 5.
  • The second member of MoState's dynamic duo Lainie Douglas (So., Overland Park, Kan.) is averaging 14.1 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game and leads the team with a .561 FG% in CUSA games.
  • During MoState's last two games, Douglas has averaged 24.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game while shooting .739 (17-23) from the field and .824 (14-17) from the FT line.
  • As a team, Missouri State ranks inside the top 15 nationally in: free throw made/game (9th - 16.9) and free throw attempts/game (13th - 22.4). The Lady Bears lead CUSA and rank 55th nationally in FT% at 75.4 percent. Bekemeier ranks inside the top 15 nationally in FTM (8th - 148) and FTA (15th - 176), and also leads CUSA and ranks 67th nationally with an .841 FT%.
  • In the Cunningham era, Missouri State is 55-7 when scoring 70+ points, 63-5 when holding opponents to 65 points or less and 48-1 when opponents score less than 60 points. Missouri State is 0-5 this season when allowing 70 or more points.
  • Second-Half Adjustments - MoState is even on the scoreboard in the first half this season, but flips the switch at the break to own a +102 point differential against its opponents in the second half of games. Against CUSA opponents, the Lady Bears are +21 in the first half and +60 in the second half. MoState has scored 167 more points in the second half of games than the first half this season.
  • Battle on the Boards - MoState is 16-3 this season when out-rebounding opponents, but is just 1-8 when losing the battle on the boards.
