OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Missouri State's
Max Knight was honored Tuesday by the College Baseball Foundation as its national John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week for games played Feb. 13-15.
Â
This is Knight's second career weekly Olerud Award. The junior won the honor on April 29 of last season and was one of five finalists for the Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year in 2025.
Â
Knight batted .364 with a .500 on-base percentage while throwing three shutout innings in the Bears' series win at Louisiana to open the season.
Â
The Bixby, Okla., native earned the pitching victory on Saturday by allowing just one hit and striking out four in three scoreless frames and also hit a home run in the ninth inning that helped the Bears complete their comeback from a 10-3 deficit after seven innings to win 13-12. It marked the eighth time in Knight's MoState career that he has both pitched and hit a home run in the same game.
Â
Knight, who started at both designated hitter and left field in the series, hit safely and reached base multiple times in all three contests as well as stealing a base on Friday.
Â
The Bears (2-1) play at Oral Roberts at 3 p.m. today and visit Ole Miss for a three-game series Feb. 20-22.
