First and Ten Notes
- Missouri State makes its long-awaited return to Plaster Stadium on Wednesday when the Bears host defending Conference USA champion Kennesaw State at 6:30 p.m. The nationally-televised showdown on CBS Sports Network is Mo State's first home game since Sept 19.
- Now officially the nation's top defender, LB Jared "Bird" Lloyd (5th yr, Daytona Beach, Fla.) jumped to the top of the FBS ranks in tackles per game (12.0) this week with a career-high 15 stops last week at WKU. He has brought down 41 ball carriers over the last three games with double-figure tackles in 6 of his last 8 contests overall. He leads Conference USA in tackles per game, total tackles (60) and is 3rd in solo stops per game (5.40).
- Missouri State is 3-1 in nationally-televised Weekday CUSA games. The Bears are also 8-2 in their last 10 October games (3-0 at home).
- WR Isaiah Myers (5th yr., Cincinnati, Ohio) ranks 2nd in CUSA in yards per reception (20.95), receiving yards per game (83.8) and total receiving yards (419), which rank 9th, 26th and 35th, respectively, among the nation's FBS wide receivers. The WKU transfer has a TD reception in 3 of the last 4 games, including a SportsCenter Top 10 Play scoring catch last week.
- With 147 career catches, WR Jmariyae Robinson (5th yr., Cocoa, Fla.) is on the brink of breaking Missouri State's career receptions record (150), currently held by All-America TE Clay Harbor (2006-09). Coming off a season-high 7 receptions for 41 yards at WKU, Robinson also ranks No. 8 in program history in receiving yards (1,857) and No. 5 in TD receptions (16).Â
- Mo State secret weapon Ramone Green Jr. (Sr., Nixa, Mo.) eclipsed 1,000 career all-purpose yards last week at WKU (516 rush, 492 receiving, 22 KR).
- Robinson (4.75) and Myers (4.00) are both among CUSA's top players in receptions per game, ranking 6th and 8th, respectively, through Week 6. Myers is also 5th in CUSA in all-purpose yardage per game (89.80).
- Co-captain J.J. O'Neal (5th yr., Rogersville, Mo.) has racked up 30 tackles over the last three games, including a career-high 11 stops at WKU last week. His season tackles-per-game average (6.40) ranks 11th in Conference USA while his effort at WKU pushed him to the 100 career tackle milestone (42 games).
- Fifth-year QB Skyler Locklear (Clayton, N.C.) is 141 passing yards away from reaching 4,000 for his career. He has accounted for 38 career touchdowns (10 rushing, 28 passing) in 28 appearances. He also ranks 4th in CUSA in completion percentage (.657), which is No. 6 nationally among all FBS quarterbacks under 6-foot.
- Winning or sharing the turnover battle 3 times in 5 games this season, Mo State ranks 39th in FBS in fewest turnovers (5). The Bears are also 22nd nationally in defensive fumble recoveries (4) and 52nd in turnover margin (+0.20).
- Starting corners Joel Kpassou (Sr., Cleveland, Ohio) and Joel Boamah (Sr., Newark, N.J.) rank among the FBS leaders in their specialties. Kpassou is 11th in forced fumbles (0.40), while Boamah is 27th in passes defended per game (1.00), both 2nd in CUSA.
