SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State Bears men's soccer team tied against the Central Arkansas Bears on Sunday night. In a closely contested match, neither team conceded a goal, in a 0-0 tie.
MSU (2-1-1) opened the match aggressively, pressing forward with ?7 shots to UCA's (0-3-1) 0 in the first half. In the second half, MSU continued to be aggressive with 10 shots to UCA's 4.
Missouri State recorded 5 shots on goal in total, three by senior Adrián Esteban and two by classmate Daniele Verdirosi. Senior goalkeeper Will Lowry played the entire 90 minutes and recorded two stunning saves to keep the game at a tie.
MSU recorded 10 corner kicks to UCA's one. UCA received 13 fouls with two yellow cards while MSU received eight fouls showcasing the physicality of the encounter.
Coach Michael Seabolt was pleased with the Bear's performance and looks forwards to their next home clash, which will be the Bear's first American Conference battle.
"Tonight was a great performance for the guys, I am very happy with their effort. We created a ton of chances, but that's just our sport. We start the American Conference on Friday and this team's going to be ready. They're super excited for the launch of the new league in front of our home fans!"
The Missouri State Bears will host Temple at home at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Friday, Sept. 12, at 7:00 p.m. Admission to all home games is free all season.
