SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State ended the Dr. Mary Wynn Invitational Saturday afternoon at Hammons Student Center with a 3-0 loss to DePaul but still walked away with the tournament championship thanks to a 2-1 record and head-to-head tiebreak with UTSA for the top spot.

Peyton McKee earned tournament MVP honors after averaging 3.91 kills per set on .417 hitting for the weekend and was joined by teammates
Hannah Gardner and
Lizanyela Lopez on the all-tournament squad.

DePaul (3-3) hit .293 or better in each set and .385 for the match, using 7-0 runs midway through both the first and third periods to gain control. In the second, the Bears (2-4) hit .282 but never led after 4-3 as the Blue Demons pulled away from a 17-16 score.

MoState hit .240 as an offense and McKee was the only Bear with double-figure kills, finishing with 11 on .435 hitting.
Aniya Joseph posted a team-high 11 digs and Gardner dished out 17 assists.

The Bears remain at home for a pair of matches against Purdue Fort Wayne on Sept. 11 and 12. First serve for both is 6 p.m.
