MIAMI, Fla. – Missouri State completed its first Conference USA weekend series with a 3-0 setback at FIU Saturday afternoon at Ocean Bank Convocation Center. The Panthers won by set scores of 26-24, 25-15, 25-19.

A lengthy first set featured Missouri State (5-8, 0-2 CUSA) runs of 6-0 and 5-0 on either side of an 8-1 FIU (8-6, 2-0) spurt, eventually evening out to tie scores at each point from 20 through 24 before the Panthers took advantage of two MSU errors for the narrow win.

The Panthers led 10-6 in the second after a 5-0 run and pulled away thanks to a 17-4 kill advantage. The third was tied six times to 12-12 when the home team went on a 3-0 run and never surrendered the lead to secure the sweep.

Peyton McKee and
Rilynn Finley at eight kills each for the Bears, who finished with a season-low 25 kills. Kira Givans had 20 kills for FIU.

MoState piled up 30 digs in the opening set and 50 in the match compared to 69 for FIU.
Brooke Eslinger (14) and
Hannah Gardner (11) finished in double figures.
Grace Smith had a match-high six blocks, and the Bears had 10 stuffs to reach double digits for the sixth time this season.
Lizanyela Lopez served three aces.
