SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State men's basketball head coach
Cuonzo Martin has added Georgia Tech transfer Darrion (DARR-ee-on) Sutton to the Bears roster for 2025-26.
The 6-foot-8 forward is originally from St. Charles, Missouri and spent the 2024-25 season at Georgia Tech where he played in 18 games with one start as a true freshman. He averaged 1.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists for the season but increased his playing time to nearly 15 minutes per game in Tech's last 12 contests. He earned his first career start vs. Stanford on Feb. 12.
"At 6-foot-8, Darrion is a versatile player who can impact the game at all five positions," said Martin. "He has the skill to facilitate the offense, create for himself, and consistently find the open man. He's competed on big stages and gone head-to-head with some of the nation's best at the grassroots level. He's a great addition to our program."
Sutton spent his final prep season (2023-24) at Overtime Elite in Atlanta after his game and his recruitment took off over the summer of 2023. He averaged 10.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists over a 17-game schedule for Team RWE at Overtime Elite, hitting 58.4 percent of his shots from the floor. He also helped RWE advance to the championship series of the OTE playoffs, averaging 3.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists over seven games.
Missouri State's newest addition played his high school junior year at Denver (Colo.) Accelerated Way and participated in the NBPA Top 100 Camp and Pangos All-American Camp in the summer of 2023. The four-star prospect ranked No. 98 nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings in the class of 2024, including No. 24 among small forwards and No. 11 overall in the state of Georgia. Out of high school, he had offers from Georgia Tech, Michigan and Missouri.
