Michael Yusypchuk was honored Tuesday as the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Yusypchuk had a stellar outing Friday at 18
th-ranked Mississippi State, firing seven shutout innings against the Bulldogs in Starkville. The Edmonton, Alberta, native yielded just two singles, a walk and a hit batsman, retiring the first seven he faced and striking out eight in the game.

On the year, Yusypchuk has14 strikeouts and one walk with a 1.54 ERA and .190 opponent average in 11.2 innings.

Yusypchuk is just the fourth MSU freshman to ever be named the MVC Pitcher of the Week, joining Grant Gordon (3/1/10), Clay Murphy (4/26/10) and Connor Sechler (4/2/18). He is the first Bear overall to win the award since Adam Link on March 28, 2022.
