Lizanyela Lopez earned one of 11 spots on the Conference USA Volleyball All-Academic Team Friday, as voted on by the senior academic advisor at each league institution.

A graduate transfer from Lima, Peru, Lopez leads CUSA with 112 total blocks in her first season with the Bears. She also ranks third in the conference with a 1.19 per set average and owns a team-best .292 attack efficiency. Her 11 blocks against Fort Wayne on September 12 were the most by a Bear in four years, and she has 12 matches with at least five stuffs this season.

Lopez owns a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average in her second semester pursuing her Master's in Professional Studies - Applied Communications.

Nominees must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, at least a sophomore class standing, and be a starter or key reserve member of the squad.
