On the Pitch
- Missouri State's women's soccer team will close out its home slate of non-conference games when Central Arkansas makes the trip to Springfield on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1:00 p.m. Admission is free.
- This will be the 12th installment of the Battle of the Bears. MoState leads the series with an all-time record of 6-4-1. When these teams met last season, MSU was victorious 3-0 in Conway (8/23/23). When these two teams met in Springfield two seasons ago, the result was a 0-0 draw.
- Three games in, the Bears have outshot their opponents 73-50 and have 40 shots on-goal to their opponents' 27.
- The Bears are coming off a loss to No. 19 Saint Louis which saw SLU put up four goals against MoState.
- Since the program was founded in 1996, the Bears have racked up 249 wins and are in the hunt for their 250th.
- MoState was picked to finish first in the MVC preseason poll for the second year in a row with seven first place votes and 116 points.
- Missouri State was named the NCAA Statistical Champion in shutout percentage (.684) with 13 clean sheets in a 19-game season.
- Day was also named an NCAA Statistical Champion for a goals against average of .452 (eight goals in 1,593 minutes played). Her GAA also set a school record previously held by Alexis Stormo who recorded an average of .73 in 2004.
- Head coach Kirk Nelson enters his third season leading the Bears. In his two years at the helm, he has led the team to an MVC tournament championship (2022) and the team's best winning percentage (.763, 2023).
