Baseline Knowledge
- The Missouri State tennis team will close out the regular season on the road with a match at Bradley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and a match at Illinois State at noon on Sunday.
- The Bears (12-8, 3-3 MVC) enter the final weekend of conference play sitting fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. Only the top-six teams in the Valley qualify to compete in the conference tournament.
- Bradley sits seventh in the standings (8-14, 2-4 MVC). The Bears lead the series against Bradley 19-11 all-time. When these two teams met last year, Bradley won 4-3 in Springfield.
- Illinois State is second in the conference (15-6, 6-1 MVC) and the Redbirds lead the series 26-6 all-time. Last season, Illinois State came out on top with a 6-1 win on MoState's courts.
- Last weekend, the Bears closed out their home schedule with back-to-back 4-3 wins over UIC and Valpo. Missouri State went 8-1 at Cooper Tennis Complex this season to have their first winning record at home since 2019.
- In both matches, the deciding point came down to the No. 3 singles match. Tuana Gunal prevailed both times with a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win against UIC and a 6-2, 6-2 win against Valpo.
- With 12 wins already under their belt this season, the Bears have secured their first winning season record since 2021. A win against either Bradley or Illinois State would be the first time the Bears have 13 wins in a season since 2003.
