Women's Tennis Completes Drury Invitational

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's tennis was part of a two-day Drury Invitational tournament, picking up 12 singles and 11 doubles wins overall at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The Bears competed both amongst themselves and players from Drury, Evangel, Southern Baptist and Rockhurst.
"It was great to compete at our home courts for our first fall tournament and get some competitive matches in. We have spent the past month working on getting doubles to a good place and that showed this weekend," stated head coach Austin Hale after the tournament.
A few highlights from the weekend include:
The Bears will travel to Topeka, Kan. next to compete at the two-day Washburn Invitational tournament starting on Friday, Oct. 2.
The Bears competed both amongst themselves and players from Drury, Evangel, Southern Baptist and Rockhurst.
"It was great to compete at our home courts for our first fall tournament and get some competitive matches in. We have spent the past month working on getting doubles to a good place and that showed this weekend," stated head coach Austin Hale after the tournament.
A few highlights from the weekend include:
- Freshman Martina Medina went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles winning both flights in her very first collegiate matches as a Bear.
- Sophomore Leticia Caldararo also won her flight, competing hard with multiple three-set victories.
- Sophomore Marielou Baudouin also had a stellar weekend going 5-1 overall across singles and doubles play, only losing to her teammate Medina in the singles final.
- Across the 11 doubles matches the Bears competed in, the Bears did not concede a single set to another team.
The Bears will travel to Topeka, Kan. next to compete at the two-day Washburn Invitational tournament starting on Friday, Oct. 2.
