SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State softball fell to 10-28 on the season with a 9-0 loss in six innings to Kansas here Wednesday afternoon.
The Jayhawks (27-14-1) controlled things from the jump in Springfield, scoring in five of six innings on the afternoon, which included a three-run first inning.
Following Kansas' three-run homer in the first, it seemed the Bears might have an answer as
Olivia Krehbiel led off the first with a single, before
Kayla Ulrich knocked another single to right field to put runners on the corner with one out. The MSU threat was squashed following a caught stealing in a rundown and a pop up to second base to end the inning.
Missouri State only managed one baserunner for the remainder of the game via a walk in the fourth inning. Meanwhile, the Kansas offense added single runs in the second and third innings and two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to run rule the Bears, 9-0, in six innings.
Krehbiel and Ulrich had MSU's only two hits, while Ulrich added a walk to her day at the plate.
The Bears are back in action this weekend at home with a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against Valparaiso (April 19-21). All three games from Springfield will stream on ESPN+.
