Kreikemeier Claims Twin Oaks Title, Bears Finish Third

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State senior Max Kreikemeier birdied the second hole of a sudden-death playoff Tuesday (Mar. 19) to claim medalist honors at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate at Twin Oaks Country Club.
The three-time all-conference standout fired a second-round five-under-par 66 sandwiched between a pair of 70's to finish at 206 for the tournament. Kreikemeier hit his second shot to six feet on the par-five 10th hole and two-putted to edge Jackson Drake of Oral Roberts for the championship.
Drake's ORU team captured the team title with an 18-under total of 834, while Wichita State was second with 841 and the Bears third at 846. MSU posted 282-279-285 for 54 holes and jockeyed back and forth with ORU for the top spot in the first two rounds before Wichita State's final-round 277 edged the Shockers past the Bears in the 13-team field.
Senior Hampus Wijkstrom tied for fifth for the Bears, carding 70-68-70--208, just two strokes from first. Sophomore Christian Rischer was third for MSU and 43rd overall with 73-74-71--218, while senior Eric Schuessler tied for 54th after posting 80-69-74--223. Junior Ludwig Wijkstrom carded 71-78-75--224 for 59th, and Max Bowman and Andrew Fallis tied for 70th with 230 totals while playing as individuals.
The Bears are idle for a couple of weeks now before returning to action Apr. 8-9 at the Tennessee State Big Blue Classic.
