NEW ORLEANS – The Missouri State women's tennis team ended its tour of Louisiana with a 4-0 win over New Orleans on Saturday.
 
The Bears (9-5) improve to 7-0 in matches where they win the doubles point. At No. 1 Cristina Flaquer and Nicole Ross got the ball rolling with a 6-3 win over the team of Tristanne Dechoux and Anastassia Kouchnareva. Juliette Robinson and Tuana Gunal won by the same score against New Orleans' Kateryna Kalistratova and Audelia Morin Kougoucheff.
 
Ross put the Bears in position to win with her win at No. 5 singles. Ross battled UNO's Reznitskaya in the first set and won 7-5. She flew through the second to win 6-1 and secure her eighth straight singles win for MoState.
 
Gunal secured the Bears win with a victory at No. 3. The freshman swept Dechoux in the first set but dropped the second 6-2. Gunal dug deep in the third set to win once again 6-0. So far this season, Gunal is 2-2 in third sets. Her win today brings the Bears up to 9-3 in matches that go to a third.
 
Mary Houston doubles the Bears lead with her quick win at No. 2. over Kouchnareva. By winning 6-1, 6-2, Houston has a new season record for largest margin of victory.
 
The Bears return home on March 24 to open conference play against Northern Iowa at 11:00 a.m. Admission is free at Cooper Tennis Complex.
