LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Missouri State women's tennis team (7-5) dropped the first match of its road trip 4-0 to McNeese State on Monday.
 
The Cowgirls (14-1) snagged the doubles point from the Bears with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
 
The duo of Cristina Flaquer and Nicole Ross fell 6-1 to Anastasija Adeikyte and Arina Gamretkaia from McNeese to open the match. At No. 3, Tuana Gunal and Juliette Robinson lost 6-3 to the Cowgirl's Aina Domingo-Bernabeu and Tiana Fox.
 
In singles, the Bears were able to win a set at No. 3. Tuana Gunal opened play against Adeikyte with a 6-4 victory in set one. Gunal was up 4-0 in the second set when play was halted.
 
At No. 6, Nicole Ross battled through the first set to force a tie breaker. McNeese's Fox took the tie breaker 7-3.
 
With wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No.4, McNeese State secured the win.
 
The Bears are back in action tomorrow with a match at Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, La. at 6:00 p.m.
