SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State tennis team swept Kansas City, 4-0, on Saturday to end a three-match home stand.
 
The Bears opened the match with a sweep of doubles. Tuana Gunal and Juliette Robinson rolled through their doubles set to win 6-2 over UMKC's Amal Gati and Tuana Tinaztepe at No. 3. Sandra Lukacova and Mary Houston secured the doubles point for the Bears with their 7-5 win at No. 2 over Laura Munoz-Baroja and Anastassiya Timofeyeva.
 
The decision was made to allow the final doubles match to play out allowing Cristina Flaquer and Nicole Ross to win 7-5 over Maria Bylina and Joana Cardona of Kansas City.
 
In singles, there was no slowing the Bears down.
 
Robinson won her match at No. 4 in approximately 30 minutes. The junior swept Bylina in the first set to win 6-0. Robinson only dropped one set the whole match to win the second set 6-1.
 
At No. 6 singles, Ross also had a swift victory. Ross won her match only a few minutes after Robinson. The junior defeated Kansas City's Gati 6-1, 6-3.
 
Lukacova secured the Bears' victory with a win at No. 5 to remain undefeated in singles during the dual season. The junior closed the first set 6-3 over UMKC's Timofeyeva before winning the second set 6-1 and sealing the sweep for the Bears.
 
MoState has won three straight matches at home.
 
"I couldn't be any prouder of the girls for coming out and taking care of business today," head coach Ellie Burger said. "It's so great watching all their hard work come together. I'm looking forward to seeing them back in action next weekend in Omaha!"
 
The Bears head out on the road to Omaha, Neb. to face Creighton and Omaha on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 a.m., respectively.
