NEW YORK - Missouri State men's soccer senior forward Jesus Barea has been invited to participate in the 2024 adidas Major League Soccer Showcase. MLS announced the list of 44 invitees Tuesday afternoon.

The showcase is a four-day event from Dec. 11-14 in San Diego, Calif. The nation's top collegiate players will have the opportunity to be evaluated by scouts from each MLS club ahead of MLS SuperDraft 2025, which takes place on Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. CT.

"The adidas College Showcase is an instrumental part of the evaluation process for top collegiate talent from across the country and we are excited to welcome our clubs to San Diego for this year's event," said Alecko Eskandarian, Vice President, Player Relations & Player Development. "The college soccer landscape has a longstanding tradition of developing players who go on to have successful careers in MLS, with many first showcasing their talent at this event before making an impact in the league. Barea (Cádiz, Spain) is coming off a historic 2024 college season to put a cap on an all-time career at Missouri State. He is tied for fourth in the nation with 15 goals this season, one shy of the Missouri State single-season record. Barea became the program's all-time leader in shots taken (261). He is also second in program history in career starts (85), tied for second in career goals (34) and third in career points (87). Earlier today, Barea was named to the College Sports Communicators Division I Men's Soccer Academic All-America® second team.

The 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA. The eligible player list for MLS SuperDraft 2025 will be announced at a later date following the 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase. Barea was one of three Bears to make the eligible player list for MLS SuperDraft 2024 last December. He is the only Missouri Valley Conference player to receive an invite to this year's showcase.
