Arcoverde, Barea, Peck Make 2024 MLS SuperDraft List

December 17, 2023

SPRINGFIELD - Three Missouri State men's soccer players are listed as eligible players for the 2024 MLS SuperDraft happening Tuesday afternoon. Junior defender Pedro Arcoverde, senior forward Jesus Barea and junior defender Michael Peck are among the 388 players on the list released by Major League Soccer earlier this week.

"We are proud of Jesus, Michael and Pedro for their continued excellence," head coach Michael Seabolt said. "They have great futures in the game as Bears and beyond because of their ability, character and hard work. These guys are elite."

Pedro Arcoverde (São Paulo, Brazil) makes the list after a strong first season in a Bears uniform. The transfer continued his success after two years at Cowley College by scoring two goals in 2023, including the opening goal in the sixth minute against Drake on Missouri State's Senior Night. Arcoverde's performance at the end of the regular season earned him the final MVC Defensive Player of the Week award and led him to be named to the College Soccer News's National Team of the Week. His defensive effort helped Missouri State to the eighth-best shutout percentage in Division I (.526), keeping opponents under six shots per game.

"I am very grateful to God for the opportunity, grateful to the Missouri State coaching staff for welcoming me and giving me the chance to defend the Bear family," Arcoverde said. "I am more excited and more motivated to continue evolving."

Jesus Barea (Cádiz, Spain) made the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team on top of a handful of coveted honors following his 2023 campaign. Barea was named to the MVC All-Conference First Team and the MVC All-Tournament Team. The 2022 MVC Player of the Year led the Bears in points this season with six goals and a team-high four assists. Barea was named MVC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a goal and two assists against Bowling Green on Oct. 27. He had the fourth-best shot accuracy in Division I last season with over 60% of his shots being on goal.

"It feels really good being on that list with high-quality players and seeing all the work I've put in," Barea said. "But there is still more work to do and show.

Michael Peck (Cornwall, England) earned his draft eligibility thanks to his contributions on defense where the Bears were eighth in Division I in team goals against average (.737). Like Barea, he was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team. Peck led the Bears with 1,671 minutes played, spending all but 39 minutes on the pitch. He scored his first career goal in the 35th minute against Saint Louis on Sept. 27 to tie the match, leading to him being named MVC Defensive Player of the Week. Peck was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and named to Top Drawer Soccer's Top 25 Midseason College Soccer National Player Rankings on Oct. 18.

"I am excited to be recognized," Peck said. "I am looking forward to next season at Missouri State."

The 2024 MLS SuperDraft will take place in New York City on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 2:00 p.m. CT. It will be streamed on MLS Season Pass. Real-time updates of all three rounds of the draft will be available on the MLS SuperDraft Tracker.
