On the Pitch
- The Missouri State Bears will travel to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes in the first round of the NCAA Tournment at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Missouri Valley Conference Champions are coming off a regular season title, a tournament title and hold the longest winning streak in the country.
- Missouri State and Iowa have not met since 2005. A road match for MoState resulted in a 1-1 tie. The Bears outshot the Hawkeyes 21-12 with 10 shots on-goal to Iowa's four.
- The Bears are champions! MoState defeated Drake 4-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference finals to claim the MVC's automatic bid to the national tounament. The Bears also beat Belmont 2-0 in the semifinals to make their way to the final match.
- MoState has won four tournament titles in its time as a member of the MVC. In 2000, the Bears earned the third seed just four years after the team was founded. They were the second seed when they won in 2017 and 2022. 2024 was the first time the Bears won the regular season title and the No. 1 seed.
- The Bears leave the MVC with a two-year long conference unbeaten streak. Their last regular season conference loss came on 10/23/2022 at Illinois State (4-2). That's 20 straight conference games without a loss.
- MoState is on a hot streak. The Bears have won nine games in a row for the longest winning streak in the country. Their last loss came at Oral Roberts over two months ago.
- The Bears swept the MVC Season Awards. Only two other schools have swept the postseason awards in MVC history (Evansville in '96 and Drake in '17). Camielle Day was named Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive season. Julia Kristensen took home Player of the Year, Jenna Anderson won Defender of the Year and Jane Hansen was named Freshman of the Year. Missouri State had four first-team picks, one second-team pick and two third-team picks.
- Day claimed another record with the shutout against Belmont in the semifinals. Her 29th career shutout broke the MVC career shutout record set by Valparaiso's Nikki Coryell in 2023. Drake marked her 30th clean sheet as a Bear.
- Under head coach Krik Nelson's leadership, the Bears have been 25-2-5 in the MVC and never been below the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. The coaching staff was named MVC Coaching Staff of the Year for their efforts.
