CHICAGO – Missouri State tennis' Sandra Lukacova took fourth at the MVC Individual Championship on Sunday.
 
Lukacova battled through her opening match in Flight No. 4 to win 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) over Belmont's Libbie Hamilton. She then fell to Murray State's Paola Campigotto in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-3 and Illinois State's Nicole Iosio 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 to finish fourth in her flight.
 
Newcomers Lucy Latham and Billur Gonlusen both held on to the end to finish fifth in their flights. Latham, a freshman from Tulsa, Okla., defeated Drake's Nicole Lee 7-5 in their first set. Latham dropped the second 1-6 before rallying in the tie breaker to win 10-7 and place fifth in Flight No. 2 in her first MVC tournament.
 
Gonlusen dropped her opening match at the tournament for her first singles loss as a Bear. In the back draw, the transfer from Maryville, defeated Belmont's Aly Getty 6-3, 6-4. Gonlusen secured her fifth-place finish with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Bradley's Mariia Pukhina.
 
The Bears will finish the fall season at ITA Regionals hosted by Memphis. The tournament will start on Oct. 9 and conclude on Oct. 14.
