FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Missouri State women's swimming & diving fell to the Arkansas Razorbacks, 138-99, at Arkansas Natatorium Thursday afternoon.
A handful of Bears set new team-best times in the early part of the season.
Samantha Roemer finished second in the 200-yard individual medley. The former Missouri Valley Conference silver medalist in the event posted a time of 2:05.64, just .13 seconds off of Arkansas' Holly Robinson (2:05.51) for the win. Roemer also finished second in the 100-yard Butterfly (55.88), half a second behind Arkansas' Bella Cothern (55.35).
Makenzie Kurre also reset the Bears' best time in the 100-yard freestyle (52.26) to claim second in the event. Kurre's time in the 100 free surpassed
Lana Janson's time of 52.45 set against Southern Illinois in Carbondale two weeks ago to open the season. Kurre was just over a second off her career-best time of 51.12 she set at last year's MVC Championships.

In diving,
Maggie Arceneaux paced the Bears in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. The sophomore finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 239.93, less than two points off her season-best and just over eight points off her career-best at the conference championships last season. Arceneaux finished third in the 3-meter dive (227.85) to set the team's new top score this season.
Both Missouri State men's and women's swimming & diving teams will compete in Springfield for the first time this season on Friday, Oct. 25 against crosstown Drury University starting at 5:00 p.m. at Hammons Student Center Pool. Admission is free.
