October 11, 2024 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
SPRINGFIELD – Head coach Kimmy Adkins formally announced the Bears' inaugural acrobatics and tumbling schedule for the 2025 season on Friday. The slate for the first season features seven meets with three at home.
Â
The Bears will open the season at Presbyterian College in South Carolina on Feb. 9.
Â
The next three weeks will be spent at home. On Feb. 15, Augustana will make the trip to Springfield for the first ever meet to be held in Hammons Student Center. A week later the Bears will host Duquesne on Feb. 22. The Bears will end their homestand with a visit from reigning national champion Baylor on Mar. 8.
Â
MoState will finish the season on the road with a meet at East Texas Baptist on Mar. 31. The Bears will get the opportunity to see Augustana again when they visit the Vikings in South Dakota on Apr. 5 before finishing out the regular season in the Battle of the Bears at Morgan State on Apr. 10.
Â
The National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association Championship will be hosted by Augustana on Apr. 24-27.
Â
A&T meets are made up of six different events, compulsory, acro, pyramid, toss, tumbling and team, that combine to a total of 20 heats with a 15-minute halftime between the pyramid and toss events. A team can score up to 300 points in a meet with the most coming from the team event where they can score 110 points.
Â
"We are grateful for the opportunity to begin our inaugural season at MoState!" Adkins said. "We are the first and only acrobatics and tumbling team in the state of Missouri and we are excited to put Springfield on the map as being home to the first collegiate A&T team in the state. The passion my athletes have for this sport is infectious and I can't wait to watch it spread throughout our community!"
Â
Adkins enters her second year as a head coach and first at Missouri State.
