The Missouri State tennis team is set to play its home opener against Arkansas State at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Cooper Tennis Complex. Admission is free and live stats will be available.
The Bears have a 1-2 record against the Red Wolves since 1984. Most recently, the two teams met at Cooper in 2022 where Arkansas State won 4-3.
Five Bears will be making their home spring debut on Friday. The team took on three transfers and two freshmen this season to build out the roster.
Head coach Ellie Burger recently added transfer Lola Federski from Evangel.
Last weekend, three Bears earned their first wins of the spring season in the dual against South Dakota. Cristina Flaquer, Mary Houston and Sandra Lukacova put points on the board for the Bears at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles spots, respectively.
The doubles team of Flaquer and Nicole Ross faced their first ranked pair of the season when the Bears faced Iowa State. The duo earned an early lead over the No. 56 doubles team in the country, but ultimately fell 6-4.
