A 40-minute third set was tied at 23, 24 and 25 before a Bickers kill and Skyhawk attack error put the Bears ahead 2-1 in the match, and UTM answered again with four blocks in the fourth period to hold MSU to .095 hitting and extend the match.
The fifth set was all Bears as Missouri State hit .333 and closed out the contest on a 6-0 run to pick up its first home win of the season.
Missouri State concludes the weekend tournament with a 3 p.m. Saturday match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (0-5).
