Women's Soccer Prevails in the Battle of the Bears

CONWAY, Ark. – The Missouri State women's soccer team (3-0) kept one foot on the gas for the whole game against the Central Arkansas Bears for a third straight win here Wednesday, 3-0.
"It is always great to get a win on the road. Credit to UCA, they came out very tough and made us adapt a bit from our initial game plan," head coach Kirk Nelson said.
It did not take long for the Bears to put something on the scoreboard. Gracie English scored in the seventh minute against UCA's Kajsa Pruner. It was English's second goal of the season and second straight game with a goal.
Not long after, MSU added another goal to its tally and secure its win. In the 25th minute, offensive pressure from Missouri State kept pushing against the UCA defense.
The ball was pushed into the net and UCA was credited with an own goal.
In the 67th minute Iraia Arrue assured the win for Missouri State. The junior forward rocketed the ball into the net off an assist from Lillie Rasmussen. It marked the first goal and first assist for both athletes.
In the first half, MSU outshot UCA 16 to 7 with all of UCA's attempts off goal. Camielle Day recorded her second shutout of the season and the Bears defense only allowed one shot in the whole 90 minutes.
The Bears are back in Springfield on Sunday to take on PAC-12 Conference power Oregon at 1 p.m. at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium. Admission is free, and fans are encouraged to wear white BearWear to the game.
