HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
The Missouri State beach volleyball team wrapped up its season here Friday morning falling to top-seeded TCU, 5-0, in the second round of the CCSA Beach Volleyball Championship.

"It's always hard to say 'goodbye' to our seniors and today was no different. We appreciate the passion and efforts they put into this program," said head coach Ashley Emery. "This season was about growth as a program, and sometimes growth is hard. Over half of our losses this season were to top-20 ranked opponents. The team got to see what it's going to take to compete at that level and we really did grow in our competition."

The Bears showed fight in all five flights against the second team in the nation playing in the consolation side of the bracket. In the second position, Tylar Garrett and Grayson Hall pushed their opponent to the brink in the first set, before ultimately dropping the 21-16, 21-13 loss to Anhelina Khmil and Kate Privett.

Playing in the third position for the Bears, Manuela Niemeyer and MacKenzie Steele also battled against Hailey Hamlett and Sutton MacTavish, before dropping the match 21-14, 21-9. The freshman duo finished their inaugural season with the Bears with a 13-9 record which led the team in victories.

The loss moves the Bears' final mark to 9-13 on the season, the program's third most wins since its inception in 2018.

"The "buy in" that this team has shown and the work they have put into personal growth shows me we will have a successful future," continued Emery. "We will enjoy a little rest and recovery and then get back in the sand to continue our grind and growth."
