CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Missouri State women's tennis fell to Southeast Missouri here Sunday afternoon, 7-0.
 
MSU (4-7) switched up its doubles lineup for today's dual, as the duo of Diana Cabrera and Alyson Piskulic moved up to the No. 1 line, trading places with Mary Houston and Silva Avakian who played at the No. 2 position. However, SEMO's Daniela Hlacikova and Teona Velkoska took down Avakian and Houston, 6-0, while the Redhawk's Romana Tarajova and Ksenia Shikanova defeated Cabrera and Piskulic, 6-3, securing the doubles point for the home team.
 
When singles play began, Southeast Missouri (7-2) secured victories in flights two and three after SEMO's Hlacikova downed Houston (6-2, 6-1) at the No. 2 position and the Redhawk's Vivian Lai emerged victorious over Juliette Robinson (6-3, 6-1) in the three slot. After the first two singles matches concluded, SEMO held a commanding 3-0 lead in the dual.
 
Next, in No. 5 singles, SEMO's Trinty Calinescu defeated Piskulic (6-3, 6-4) to clinch the dual for the Redhawks. Play continued on, as Cabrera split the first two sets of the No. 1 singles match against SEMO's Tarajova. However, Tarajova won the match by virtue of a tiebreak in place of a third set, 6-3, 3-6, (10-7). In flight six, the Redhawk's Velkoska topped Avakian, 7-5, 7-6 (6). To finish out the dual, SEMO's Shikanova defeated Sandra Lukacova in the No. 4 slot, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (4), in a closely-contested battle.
 
Up next, Missouri State returns home to Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield for a matchup with Missouri Western State at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
