Men's Golf Opens Spring Season in Florida
February 09, 2023 | Men's Golf
The Missouri State men's golf team is set to open the spring portion of its season this weekend, competing at the Carpenter/Chaney Classic in Mims, Fla., Friday and Saturday (Feb. 10-11). The Bears and nine other teams will compete in a unique match-play format that will have each squad playing three matches over the two days.
The Bears will open Saturday morning against Morehead State before squaring off against Lindenwood in the afternoon. They'll close out their tournament Saturday morning against Eastern Kentucky at Indian River Preserve Golf Club, a par 72, 7019-yard layout where the entire tournament is being played.
The Bears enter the spring campaign paced by two-time all-conference senior Max Kreikemeier, who posted a 71.57 scoring average in the fall and was low for the team in four of its five tournaments. Seniors Carter Lee, Austin Gillund and JP Lavalle, along with junior Eric Schuessler and freshman Christian Rischer also are making the trip for the Bears.
