The Lady Bear NecessitiesÂ
- Missouri State women's basketball (4-3) is set to host the Lady Bear Classic this week, welcoming BYU, Nevada and Western Kentucky to Springfield. The Lady Bears will face BYU on Wednesday and WKU on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Great Southern Bank Arena.
- MSU is currently riding a five-game home win streak dating back to last season with the Lady Bears' last home loss coming on Feb. 19, 2023 against Belmont. The Lady Bears are 14-4 at home in the Beth Cunningham era, and have won 11 of their last 12 games at Great Southern Bank Arena.Â
- In their last outing, the Lady Bears defeated former conference foe Wichita State, 72-65, in comeback fashion. Missouri State outscored the Shockers 22-9 in the third quarter to secure the come-from-behind victory. MSU was led by Lacy Stokes (Jr., Mount Vernon, Mo.) with 21 points, followed by Kennedy Taylor (Jr., Shawnee Mission, Kan.) with 18 points and four steals. Indya Green (Jr., Springfield, Mo.) also recorded her second double-double of the season and ninth of her career with 12 points and 14 boards.
- Stokes was named MVC Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season on Monday for her performance against the Shockers. She led all scorers with 21 points, recording 15 second-half points and going 7-for-12 at the charity stripe in the fourth quarter to help ice the game late for MSU.Â
- In the Beth Cunningham era, the Lady Bears are 17-1 when scoring 70+ points, including a 3-0 record this season when hitting the 70-point mark.
- Missouri State is 4-0 this season when winning the battle on the boards and when recording more assists than its opponents. MSU has won the rebounding battle 133 times in the last 163 contests, going 113-20 when winning on the glass.
- Missouri State's junior class (Green, Scott, Stokes, Taylor) is accounting for 62% of the Lady Bears' scoring this season. The combination of two returners and two transfers has scored 277 of MSU's 449 points on the year.Â
- Jade Masogayo (So., Fort Worth, Texas) has won all six of her opening tipoff opportunities this season and is a perfect 9-for-9 in winning opening tips for her career.Â
- Green is leading Missouri State in both points (11.9) and rebounds (7.7) per game this season. She also owns 10 steals and assists, and is shooting .485 from the field in her junior campaign. The Springfield native has led the Lady Bears in rebounding four times and ranks 7th in the MVC in rebounds/game.
