DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake claimed a wire-to-wire victory over the Missouri State volleyball team Saturday evening at Knapp Center, winning by set scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-12.
The match was not without some highlights for the Bears (9-12, 3-6 Missouri Valley Conference), as fifth-year senior
Azyah Green collected five blocks to move up to fourth on MoState's career list with 542. Her block total is the most for any player in the program since 1988.
Teagan Polcovich added 18 digs to her career total (1,289) and sits just four digs outside the top 10, and
Breanah Rives had 12 kills to reach double figures for her team-best 12th time this season.
Â
Drake (14-6, 7-1) never trailed in the match, going ahead 5-1 in the opening set and holding the margin at three-plus points after that, scoring the first three points of the second set, and using a 6-0 run to lead 11-5 in the third before pulling away.
The Bulldogs hit .312 in the match, just the third team this season to eclipse the .300 mark against the Bears, while holding Missouri State to a season-low .033 efficiency. Reigning MVC Player of the Year Haley Bush hit .441 with 15 kills and no errors for DU.
Missouri State is back home on Friday for a 4 p.m. match with UIC.
