Beach Adds Seven Newcomers for Upcoming Year

SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State beach volleyball program will welcome the addition of seven newcomers to its 2023 class with the signing of Mia Sukeena, Georgie Worley, Holly Ford, Anna Intagliata, Ally Larkin, Sage Canon and Maddie Schrandt who will join the Bears during the 2023-24 academic year. 

"I am excited for our 2023 commits to join our team and to integrate them into the Beach Bears program," said beach volleyball coach head coach Ashley Emery. "We are going to be a young team but with the success this group had in their high school careers I believe we are going to see big things out of these future Bears." 

Joining the Bears are:

Mia Sukeena (Defender, 5-4, St. Petersburg, Fla., Seminole High School) 

Sukeena joins the Bears from St. Petersburg, Fla., where she attended Seminole High School. The defender played for her high school team, starting every season. She also played club volleyball for Optimum Beach in Florida. She earned the distinction of team captain and "most valuable player" her senior year.  

Georgie Worley (Split, 5-11, Austin, Texas, Westlake Academy) 
Worley joined the Bears in Spring 2023 from Austin, Texas, after attending Westlake High School. She played volleyball for the Silver Beach AAU team in her home state, where she was an 18-under A-rated Athlete. During that time she earned bids in AVP, USA BQR, West Coast AAU Junior Olympics and was a USA BQR, BVNE, AVP American Junior qualifier.  

Holly Ford (Split, 5-9, Midwest City, Okla., Carl Albert High School) 
Ford is a split blocker joining the Bears from Midwest City, Okla. There, she attended Carl Albert High School and played for the Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. She helped her team to a ninth-place finish at nationals her junior year and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction and National Merit Commended Scholar.  

Anna Intagliata (Defender, 5-4, Kirkwood, Mo., Kirkwood High School) 
Intagliata joins the MSU beach volleyball program from Kirkwood, Mo., where she was part of the Jaja Beach Volleyball Club and played since eighth grade. During the most recent season with her club team, the defender qualified for and competed in four national tournaments (AVP, AAU, BVCA, AAU West Coach Junior Olympics). She also finished third or better in five beach tournaments. 

Ally Larkin (Split, 5-9, Wichita, Kan., Bishop Carroll Catholic High School) 
Larkin comes to MSU from Wichita, Kan., after attending Bishop Carroll Catholic High School and playing on her high school indoor team which she earned a starting spot on for two seasons. She also played on the No Coast beach volleyball club team and was part of the Shockwave club team for the indoor season.  

Sage Canon (Defender, 5-2, Houston, Texas, Bellaire High School) 
Canon joins the Bears from Houston, Texas, where she attended Bellaire High School and played for the Third Coast Beach Volleyball Club. She will add strength to MSU's strong core of defenders after gaining experience participating in tournaments around the country.  

Maddie Schrandt (Blocker, 5-11, Wichita, Kan., Andale High School) 
Schrandt joins the Bears from Wichita, Kan., where she played indoor volleyball for her high school team, starting every year. Her junior year of high school, the blocker was part of a team that was the AVCTL Division 4 champions. Schrandt also gained experience playing for the Shockwave Volleyball Academy.
