CONWAY, ARK. – Missouri State women's tennis accounted for three wins on Saturday on the second day of the UCA Fall Invitational. 

Each player competed in two doubles matches and one singles match on the second day. Two Bears won their third and final singles matches of the invitational. 

Senior Diana Cabrera defeated Sasha Lebedeva (ORU) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and sophomore Sandra Lukacova won her match against Chen (UCA) 2-6, 7-6 (8), (10-7) at No. 6 singles. 

The doubles pairing of sophomores Juliette Robinson and Sandra Lukacova won their third doubles match of the invitational, defeating Crocker/Zamora (OBU) 7-6 (1) in No. 2 doubles. 

"Again, we had another strong showing on day two," head coach Ellie Burger said. "The matches were close, and the girls competed hard. We have a lot to be proud of and will continue to work on some areas to take into our next tournament." 

Overall, Bears players recorded winning records in five flights. Cabrera went 2-1 in No. 1 singles, Lukacova went 2-1 in No. 6 singles, Avakian went 2-1 in No. 7 singles, Robinson/Lukacova went 2-1 in No. 2 doubles and Houston/Avakian went 1-0 in No. 4 doubles. 

The Bears are back in action Sept. 30 when they will travel to Omaha, Neb. to play in the two-day UNO/Creighton Hidden Dual. 

Friday Recap 

Missouri State women's tennis kicked off its season here on Friday, racking up six individual singles wins and two doubles victories on the opening day of the UCA Fall Invitational here.
 
With each player competing in two singles matches and one doubles matches on day one, all seven competing Bears earned their first wins of the season. 
 
"Overall, it was a strong day of tennis," head coach Ellie Burger said. "We have a lot to be happy with and recognized some areas where we need to grow. I'm proud of the way the girls competed, and I'm excited to see how they do on day two." 
 
The Bears are facing four other schools at the event with Oral Roberts, Ouachita Baptist, Central Arkansas and SEMO all taking the court against MSU. The Bears successfully defeated three of them in some capacity during the first day of play.  
 
Freshman Silva Avakian went undefeated on the day, winning all three of her matches. She won twice in singles, defeating ORU's Zere Isakova 6-3, 6-3 and OBU's Clarisa Valenzuela 6-2, 6-0. In doubles, her and junior Mary Houston defeated won 7-5 against OBU's Ali May/Carla Gallart Polo.  
 
At No. 2 doubles elsewhere, sophomores Juliette Robinson and Sandra Lukacova defeated SEMO's Ksenia Shikanova/Lera Valeeva 6-4.  
 
Other Bears earning victories in day one includes senior Diana Cabrera at No. 1 singles, sophomore Amy Henning at No. 8 singles and senior Alyson Piskulic at No. 5 singles. 
 
The Bears are back in action tomorrow for day two at the UCA Fall Invitational in Conway, Ark. MSU players will compete in two doubles matches and one singles match apiece.
