Men's Golf Set to Host at Twin Oaks
March 20, 2022 | Men's Golf
The Missouri State men's golf squad will host 15 other teams Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 21-22) at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield for the annual Twin Oaks Intercollegiate. The teams are scheduled for 54 holes over two days, 36 holes Monday and the final round on Tuesday, both with 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts.
Other teams in the field include Bradley, Central Arkansas, Drake, Loyola Chicago, North Alabama, UNI, Omaha, ORU, South Dakota, SIUE, Tennessee-Martin, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Wichita State. Twin Oaks will play to a par 71 and 6760 yards for the tournament.
The Bears finished 10th in the event a year ago and were led by Max Kreikemeier, now a junior, who tied for ninth. Senior Alex Locke and Kreikemeier form a potent 1-2 punch for MSU as they currently rank 7-8 in the Missouri Valley Conference with scoring averages of 74.50 and 74.54, respectively. Sophomore Eric Schuessler ranks third on the team with a 75.52 mark, just ahead of senior Carter Lee, who's at 75.86. Senior JP Lavalle, and juniors Austin Gillund and Eric Byun also will compete for the Bears.
The Bears are coming off a ninth-place finish at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in suburban Houston two weeks ago, but posted a third-place finish two weeks prior at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Phoenix, where they shattered the school single-round scoring mark with a 272 in the final round.
