SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's tennis team will kick off its home slate this weekend when the Bears host the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Bears (0-2) are looking to rebound after dropping their first matches of the season against Kansas State and the University of South Dakota on Saturday, Jan. 22 and Sunday, Jan. 23. MSU was set to begin its home slate last weekend against Central Arkansas and Arkansas State, but the matches were postponed.
Against Kansas State, the Bears took a 7-0 defeat but pushed the Wildcats in both doubles and singles play. When MSU faced off with South Dakota on Jan. 23, it was more of the same, as the Bears dropped a hard-fought, 6-1, match against the Coyotes.
MSU looks to build on the success of Alyson Piskulic who garnered a win in the team's battle against USD, defeating South Dakota's Natka Kmoskova in two sets, 6-1 and 7-5.
The Mavericks (4-0) have earned wins over Milwaukee, Northern Iowa, and Wichita State during the spring portion of their season.
The match between MSU and Omaha will take place indoors at Cooper Tennis Complex.
