SPRINGFIELD – After dropping several close matches in recent weeks, the Missouri State tennis team will host former conference rival, Creighton, in a Saturday afternoon match beginning at 1 p.m.
Creighton comes into the contest with an overall record of 4-3, most recently dropping a 5-2 battle with Illinois State on Sunday, Feb. 20. This season, the Bluejays have faced off with several of the same opponents the Bears have played, recording a win over Omaha and a loss to Wichita State.
Most recently, MSU (0-6) suffered a loss at the hands of Kansas City in a 4-3 match, which was the team's third by the same margin this season.
Against the Roos, the Bears found success on the doubles front, earning their first doubles point of the season in dramatic fashion. Mary Houston and Kate Miley were the deciding factor, rallying in a come-from-behind win over Kansas City's Michela Xibilia and Laura Munoz-Baroja.
In singles play, Juliette Robinson earned her second-straight win, handily defeating Munoz-Baroja, 6-4, 6-0. Playing in Flight 6, Miley earned the Bears' final point of the day, winning her third-straight match of the season in an 8-6 set.
Saturday's match against the Bluejays will be played indoors at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
