Women’s Tennis Looks to Rebound in Weekend Matches

February 10, 2022

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's tennis team will continue its home schedule this weekend when the Bears host Southeast Missouri State on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. and Arkansas State on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.

MSU's first opponent comes into the matchup 0-2 on the season, as the Redhawks dropped matches to Kentucky while their others were canceled. Missouri State's second match of the weekend against Arkansas State is rescheduled from Saturday, Jan. 29. The Red Wolves (0-2) come into the weekend with losses to North Texas and TCU and have not been in action since Jan. 23.

The Bears (0-3) are also looking for their first win of the season, after dropping a close, 4-3, match to Omaha on Sunday afternoon. MSU played its doubles matches tough but ultimately lost in the first and third positions, 7-5 and 6-4, respectively.

In singles play, the team found a spark, as Tiera Jarmond earned her first win of the season in a 6-3, 6-3 win while playing in the second position for MSU. Alyson Piskulic continued the success she garnered against South Dakota, winning her second match of the season in a 7-6(4), 6-3, battle to move her individual record to 2-1 on the year. Sandra Lukacova was another Bear to earn her first victory of the season over with wins in the first and third sets to give MSU its third point of the day.

The matches against SEMO and Arkansas State will take place indoors at Cooper Tennis Complex.
