Starting Five - Storylines for the Evansville Game
1) The Missouri State Lady Bears continue to have success on the boards this season. MSU ranks 8th nationally and 1st in the Missouri Valley Conference with 17.1 offensive rebounds per game, while ranking 2nd in the conference and 37th in the country in total rebound average with 42.6 per game. Missouri State also owns a +9.3 rebound margin, which is second in the conference and top 35 nationally. Rebounding has been an advantage for the Lady Bears over the years, as they have won the rebounding battle 111 times in their last 134 contests.Â
2) Missouri State won its six-straight Valley opener with a 71-62 win at Indiana State on Thursday. Â The Lady Bears' last loss to open league play was on Dec. 30, 2016, vs. UNI. 5) Sophomores and transfers Indya Green and Kennedy Taylor have made immediate impacts for the Lady Bears this season. Green leads MSU with three double-doubles this season and ranks in the top five in the MVC in rebounds (8.7/game), offensive boards (3.2/game) and defensive rebounds (5.5/game), while Taylor is averaging 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Taylor dropped a career-high 23 points earlier this season against UT Martin (Dec. 17) and owns five double-figure scoring performances.
