Tennis Bears Add Two Newcomers

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's tennis acquired two new players for the upcoming 2023-24 season, welcoming high school signee Lisa Muehlbauer and transfer Cristina Flaquer.
 
"I'm very excited to announce the signings of Cristina and Lisa," head coach Ellie Burger said. "They both bring a great energy and are going to contribute to the team chemistry as well as on-court success. Cristina brings a lot of experience with her, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her leadership on the team. Lisa has had great success in juniors, and I'm ready to see that translate into college tennis."
 
Lisa Muehlbauer • 5-4 • Fr. • Grafing, Germany • Max-Mannheimer-Gymnasium
In club action as a junior, Muehlbauer posted an 18-1 doubles record, a 23-20 singles record and helped her winter women's team win the league (Landesliga). Currently, Muehlbauer sits at No. 410 in Germany's women's ranking and No. 88 In Germany's U18 ranking.
 
Cristina Flaquer • 5-8 • Sr. • Barcelona, Spain • Institut Obert de Catalunya / Loyola Marymount / Fresno State
As a junior at Fresno State, Flaquer helped the Bulldogs capture Mountain West Conference title, racking up a 9-5 singles record, including 6-1 at the No. 3 slot. As a sophomore for Fresno State, Flaquer earned Mountain West Player of the Week honors on March 24, 2021, after her 9-1 start in singles action to begin the season.
