Track and Field Set to Compete in Six Regular-Season Meets During Indoor Slate

November 30, 2022

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team announced its schedule for its 2022-23 indoor campaign today, which will feature six regular-season meets stretching over a two-month period.

"It's hard to believe it's track season already, but we're excited to show off all of the hard work from this fall," said head coach Jordan Fife

The Bears will kick off their 2022-23 slate at the Crimson & Gold Invitational hosted by Pittsburg State University on December 10. The mid-December meet is the earliest start to the indoor season for the team since its 2018-19 campaign when MSU competed in the Missouri Holiday Opener on December 8.

MSU will get over a month off before resuming its season at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational on January 21. The annual meet is hosted by Kansas State University and is where the Bears kicked off their 2022 indoor season. Less than a week later, the team will compete in the Pittsburg State Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan., on January 28, before several multi-event Bears are set to participate in the Washburn Open & Multi on February 3-4.

The Bears will return to Pittsburg State for the annual two-day Gorilla Classic on February 10-11, before competing in the Arkansas Qualifier on February 17.

"The biggest change to the schedule is the December meet which has been a big motivator for fall training as well as giving us a good idea what we need to be focused on over the holiday break," continued Fife. "I have a lot of confidence in this team and staff that we can have a very productive season."

Missouri State will then travel to Chicago, Ill., for the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships on February 26-27 at Gately Park. The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships are slated for March 10-11 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
